In 2021, these are the 10 most common traffic police 'sniper' spots in Singapore. Use Co-Driver on the Motorist App to receive alerts on these “red zones” while driving!

Police Speed Laser Cameras (PSLCs), also known as "sniper cameras", are deployed in areas marked as a "red zone" and they are notoriously strict when it comes to speeding.

Not knowing where they are is one of the banes of driving in Singapore as you will never know when you'll be captured by one and given a hefty fine

Fear not, as we at Motorist have singled out the 10 most common 'sniper' spots in Singapore thanks to data we've collected through the Motorist App.

PIE (Toward Tuas) Before Adam Flyover

Considering the size of the bridge as well as how dark it is even in the morning, you can bet that there would 'snipers' staking out in the cover of darkness.

This part of the PIE is notorious for accidents and you can probably guess why. Look out for snipers stationed under flyovers and at overhead bridges.

CTE (Towards AYE) After Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1

Although this stretch looks relatively clear, the overhead bridge is the perfect spot for snipers to station themselves. The highway being almost straight might also lead to more rowdy behaviour, which is why this combination makes it a perfect spot to set up a sniper spot.

Although already mentioned, the traffic police have set up another sniper spot for people going in the opposite direction. As mentioned earlier, the Adam Flyover is big allowing ample cover for snipers to set up their post. Do be careful in this area.

Braddell Road (Towards Woodleigh Underpass) before Braddell Flyover

Many junctions like this tend to have many people speeding right after the light turns green, which can cause severe accidents. Additionally, this junction can be confusing for those new to driving which might lead them to unknowingly perform illegal manoeuvres. This is why the traffic police favour areas like these.

If there are sniper spots going toward Tuas, you can expect some in the opposite direction as well. Just like before, under the overpass is where most traffic police snipers tend to set up.

BKE (towards PIE) after Mandai Road

This area is right next to the central catchment reserve, which means that it is a wooded area, providing ample cover for cameras. Many people get caught off guard here as speeding is commonplace. Do make sure to keep a lookout on your left as many snipers set up there near the trees.

North Bridge Road (towards Elgin Bridge) before Middle Road

Although the area is littered with many buildings and is fairly congested during the day, it hasn't stopped people from speeding to get to work. Under the cover of rush hour crowds, the traffic police would be able to set up their speed laser cameras. So do be careful and keep an eye out for the camera on the sidewalk.

CTE (towards SLE) before Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1

Just like going toward AYE, going toward SLE might leave you with a police laser camera encounter. The other side of the road will also have many hedges which are good picks for a sniper hideout. Do remember to slow your vehicle down when approaching this section.

If a fixed speed camera wasn't enough, PSLC deployments do occur as well to catch errant drivers looking to test the speed limit. Snipers are likely stationed on the sides of the road, hidden by the shrubs and bushes.
