The Polestar 3 SUV is Proof Performance & Luxury can Coexist with Sustainability
Polestar has officially unveiled the latest addition to its line-up! The new Polestar 3 combines Scandinavian design with SUV characteristics to redefine the SUV for the electric age.
A great emphasis has been placed on sustainability but without compromising the user experience. Where possible, innovative engineering and/or material selection has been employed to minimise the car’s impact on the environment.
You’ll see this throughout the car. The Polestar 3 debuts a new design language, which manages to retain the hallmarks of an SUV, but without any of the aerodynamic inefficiencies of one. This has been achieved by the implementation of subtle yet effective aerodynamic optimisation, including a front aero wing integrated into the bonnet, an aero wing integrated into the rear spoiler, and rear aero blades. On the inside, every surface has been covered with materials with legitimate sustainable credentials. These include bio-attributed MicroTech, animal welfare-certified leather and fully traceable wool upholsteries.
Active safety is taken care of by a bevy of cameras and sensors, with the information then processed by NVIDIA’s DRIVE core computer. The infotainment is taken care of by Snapdragon’s Cockpit Platform, equipping the car with the power to provide immersive in-vehicle experiences with its high-performance capabilities to deliver high-definition displays, premium quality surround sound and seamless connectivity throughout the vehicle.
A rear-biased dual-motor model will be available at launch. The standard car will produce a combined 360 kW, and 840 Nm of torque. If you’d like a little more spice, Polestar will sell you an optional Performance Pack, which will bump up the power to 380 kW and 910 Nm of torque.Adjustable one-pedal drive is included, as well as an electric Torque Vectoring Dual Clutch function on the rear axle. For the purposes of greater efficiency, the car can decouple its rear motor, running only on the front unit to save energy.
The 111 kWh battery pack means you’ll get a driving range of up to 610 km. It is also equipped for bidirectional charging, enabling future potential for vehicle-to-grid and plug-and-charge capabilities.
And as part of Polestar’s commitment to transparency, a complete life-cycle assessment (LCA) will be completed on Polestar 3 when production begins. Subsequent assessments will follow through its life cycle and work will continue to constantly find ways of reducing its carbon footprint. At launch, the Polestar 3 Long range Dual motor (360 kW, 840 Nm) is available with an indicative launch price of EUR 89,900. Orders commence online from 12 October 2022 in all initial launch markets with full specification available at Polestar.com/polestar-3.
