The one-time adjustment will see almost 6,000 COEs being redistributed across the next few quarters.

An announcement made by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) today reported that they will be bringing forward the guaranteed deregistrations of five-year non-extendable COEs for Categories A and B, starting from the bidding exercise which opens on May 15.

The current quarter of May to July will see the total number of COEs available in Categories A and B increase by 856, from 9,575 to 10,431.

LTA is carrying out the one-time adjustment to reduce supply volatility, as the guaranteed de-registrations were forecasted to happen when the supply of COEs is higher. This move will not affect the zero Vehicle Growth Rate (VGR) of the car population.
