New Suzuki Swift for 2024
Suzuki Japan reveals the fourth-generation Swift hatchback as a production-ready prototype at this month's Japan Mobility Show (new-age Tokyo Motor Show).
It's been five years since the third-generation Suzuki Swift made its official debut in Singapore as a nifty rival to the Honda Jazz and Mazda 2. With the newest fourth-generation model of the Swift revealed in Tokyo this month, it might reach the sunny (and costly) shores of Singapore in 2024.
The initially sketchy product information suggests more of the same Swift formula – compact size for compact cities + supermini space for up to four Asian adults (albeit better for two) + sensible equipment for convenience and safety + robust mechanicals for everyday motoring.
The most interesting design elements include the prominent oval grille, chunky "clamshell" bonnet, two-tone bodywork with "floating" black roof (similar style to current Swift), and the rear door handles (conventional placement instead of in the C-pillars).
As for the Swift Sport, the Suzuki pocket rocket for petrolheads whose pockets are not deep, there will be a new-gen version in due course. As always, it will be the swiftest Swift of all.
