How long have you been a motorist in Singapore?

I think I got my driving licence in 2000, so I have over 20 years of driving experience in Singapore.

What do you like about motoring in Singapore?

Roads in Singapore are well maintained, most of them, which gives a good driving experience. We also have a good traffic situation compared to the other, busier cities in Southeast Asia. And most drivers in SG are polite, we seldom meet a situation where people horn.

We have a functional and efficient road system in Singapore which suits our lifestyle. We can estimate our travelling time pretty well, which epitomises the Singapore culture.

Buying a car in Singapore is also very convenient. Inchcape, for example, makes it even easier with our omni-channel experience. You can buy the car in the comfort of your house and when you come to our showroom, it's seamlessly integrated with what you have researched. Our aftersales experience also gives peace of mind with maintenance packages, five-year warranty, and servicing, depending on the model. Therefore, you can keep your Inchcape car for a longer period of time.

What do you dislike about motoring in Singapore?

Singapore is not big like Australia, where there are good driving roads and a more leisurely kind of driving experience. We're effective and efficient on the road here, but we're not romantic! In bigger countries, we can have more adventurous drives. We drive to Malaysia to experience a bit of excitement.

What other company cars did you have before your current Lexus RZ450e?

Lexus RX450h before the RZ, and NX200t before the RX. I love my cars. They’re all SUVs, of course, but different powertrains. My favourite is the RX, because its drivability is just fantastic. I also like the interior design and the space it afforded me, and the way it handles is very smooth.

What I like about my RZ is that it's true to Lexus. The drive, the pickup, the acceleration, it's all very, very smooth. I also like the Apple CarPlay connectivity. The RZ allows me to put my personalisation into the vehicle.

What was your very first car?

I’ll always remember my first car. It was second-hand, a lime green Mazda 323. I got it around 2000 when I just graduated from NTU. I bought it with my limited savings after looking at depreciation and calculating really hard! I wanted something which was economical. It was the first car I could afford.

What would you tell a towkay to help him decide if the Lexus LM is the right fit for him?

I would tell him that the Lexus LM is the pinnacle of luxury. It was designed for affluent people who would like to enjoy a top-tier travelling experience. They also appreciate the finer things in life.

Time is important for the towkay who is on the go, making decisions and getting deals done. The LM is very stable and very quiet – it's like a place of solitude, your office in a car.
