Vertex Automobile awarded Singapore distributorship for Chery International vehicles; first Omoda5 EV to be launched in Q1 2024

In a contract signing ceremony today, Vertex Automobile announced a partnership with Chery International to exclusively distribute the new OMODA and Jaecoo electric vehicles in Singapore. 

This new deal marks the start of a new era for Vertex Automobile, having previously been the distributors for the Seat and Cupra brands. Vertex Automobile will be bringing in two new brands, OMODA and Jaecoo, both under the Chery International umbrella. 

The first car, the Omoda5 EV, is slated for a grand launch in the first quarter of 2024 while the Jaecoo will come later although the date is yet to be confirmed. Prices and specifications for either car are also currently unconfirmed and will be revealed in due course. 

The new showroom for OMODA and Jaecoo is also scheduled to open early next year and promises state-of-the-art features and an extraordinary showcase of their vehicles. 

Sng Khai Hing, Executive Director of Vertex Automobile said of the partnership,”(It) represents a transformative moment for Singapore’s automotive industry. By joining forces with Chery International, we are poised to drive a new era of sustainable mobility in Singapore.”

Likewise, Mr Yin Tong Yue, Chairman of Chery Automobile stated,”We are thrilled to establish this collaboration with Vertex Automobile. This partnership underscores our commitment to technological innovation and environmental sustainability in the global automotive landscape.”

Apart from the distribution rights, this partnership aims to expedite Singapore’s shift towards a greener, more sustainable future by spearheading the integration of electric vehicles into the country’s automotive landscape. 

While in Singapore for the contract signing, representatives from Vertex Automobile and Chery International also attended other diplomatic events alongside representatives from the Chinese Embassy as well as local government organisations like the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI). 

More details on the launch dates for the new showroom as well as the Omoda5 and Jaecoo cars will be published as we get them.
