Fellow Motorist: Christopher Chin, managing director; Sime Darby Auto Selection, Performance Premium Selection Limited and Sime Darby Services
Mr Chin, 53, wears several hats as a senior executive in Sime Darby Motors. We chat with the Singaporean gentleman in the company’s newly-opened Singapore hub at 1 Ubi Road 4.
How long have you been a motorist in Singapore?
Probably around 25 years.
What do you like about motoring in Singapore?
The car provides shelter. I go to my carpark, go to my car and then drive off. My driving destinations have no issues with rain or shine. And I pamper myself with my car.
What do you dislike about motoring in Singapore?
There’s no dislike.
When did you get your driving licence?
Probably at the age of 21. I passed my driving test on my first attempt.
Remember your first car?
It was a 1997-1998 Toyota Corolla, during the Corona era. It looked like a Mazda 323.
Tell us about your company car.
It's a BMW 630i GT. I change company cars almost every two months, that’s a perk of my job! But I do need to experience different cars as part of my job in Sime Darby.
