Smart – a premium, all-electric, automobile brand – has announced that Cycle & Carriage will be the distributor for its cars in Singapore. The first model here will be the Smart #1, scheduled for launch and delivery in Singapore in the first half of 2024.

The Smart brand is a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz AG and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group with the end goal of transforming Smart into a mainstay of the premium EV segment. This latest generation of Smart EVs are designed by Mercedes-Benz and developed by Geely.

The Smart #1 is an all-new compact SUV and the first model in Smart’s new all-electric product line-up. Smart says the #1 is an urban runabout with a spacious, efficient interior which has unique design features. It is also characterised by advanced technologies to provide a user-centric, intelligent, safe, and convenient experience to the occupants.

Smart cited Cycle & Carriage’s (C&C) expertise in the electric mobility ecosystem as a strong supporting structure for Smart’s business expansion in Singapore. C&C currently distributes two other all-electric car brands from China - Maxus and Ora.

The brand new Smart showroom will be located at level 3 of the existing Mercedes-Benz Centre at 301 Alexandra Road, also managed by Cycle & Carriage. While the new showroom is expected to only be ready by Q3 of 2024, interested customers will be able to view and test-drive the new Smart #1 through roving roadshows around Singapore after the car’s launch.

Wilfrid Foo, managing director of Cycle & Carriage Singapore, said: ”We are excited about the product offerings that Smart brings, which fit in perfectly to meet the growing demand of EVs in Singapore. With Smart’s strong expertise and experience in product design, development, and operations, we are confident that Smart will do well in Singapore, and we welcome Smart into the C&C family.”

Mr. Xiangbei Tong, global CEO of Smart Automobile, said: “We are delighted to announce our plan to expand Smart's business network in Singapore and the partnership with Cycle & Carriage. With an extensive business network and abundant industry experience in the local market, Cycle & Carriage is an ideal partner to drive the region into the all-electric era together with Smart.”
