BYD sets up shop in CBD with new Harmony Auto showroom at 77 Robinson Road

Harmony Auto has opened its new BYD showroom in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District, which brings the number of BYD car dealerships in the country to four.

Vantage Automotive, official distributor for BYD passenger cars in Singapore, has appointed Harmony Auto as its third dealer, with a prominent CBD showroom at 77 Robinson Road.

The Harmony Auto BYD showroom’s prime location in the financial district - amidst corporate skyscrapers, big businesses and banking institutions, including the MAS headquarters - brings the BYD brand and products straight into Singapore’s Downtown Core, where the only selling of new cars was at random roadshows.

This harmonious expansion of the BYD dealer network to Robinson Road, in addition to the existing BYD showrooms at Alexandra Road, Toa Payoh and Temasek Boulevard (Suntec City), reflects and also supports the growing popularity of BYD electric cars in Singapore. 

Last year, BYD was the best-selling EV brand here, with 1,416 units registered among its three models (including fleet sales). This continues the upward trajectory of BYD in the past two years, with China’s EV giant now making up almost 5 percent of the Singapore car market, which is higher than Nissan and Mazda. 

The process of buying a new car has been increasingly digitised in recent years, with a boost during the pandemic when online shopping exploded, but BYD still believes in showing the metal to people in a physical environment. 

Liu Xueliang, BYD Auto’s general manager for Asia-Pacific sales, was quoted in The Business Times: “We choose dealers because with electric cars, there are still many consumers who are sceptical about the product itself, we want to reassure customers face to face.”

The newest place where they can do so is as sleek as the BYD Seal.  Much of the Harmony Auto BYD Robinson 77 showroom exterior is covered in boutique-style glass curtain walls, while the interior features displays which are both impressive and informative, along with touches of surprisingly lush greenery in keeping with the whole ecological theme.
