The Urus SE is Lamborghini's latest 789hp plug-in hybrid super SUV
Lamborghini launches the new Urus SE, a plug-in hybrid super SUV with 789hp and a 25.9kWh battery, ready to conquer the (most likely urban) jungle.
The Lamborghini Urus has been refreshed with a new design, optimised aerodynamics, new technology and, of course, a new hybrid powertrain. The hybrid system allows for more power and torque than ever before while still reducing emissions by 80%.
The new Urus SE had its public premiere at Auto China Beijing, showing off its new 25.9 kWh lithium-ion battery and electric motor that by itself produces 189hp and 483Nm of torque. Combined with the existing 4-litre, twin-turbo, V8 internal combustion engine, the Urus SE has a staggering combined output of 789hp and 950Nm of torque.
The electrified powertrain allows the Urus SE to rocket from 0-100km/h in just 3.4 seconds, 0-200km/h in 11.2 seconds, and on to a top speed of 312km/h which Lambo says makes the Urus SE the fastest production car in the Super SUV segment.
The Urus SE also features a new hood, matrix LED headlights with a new light signature, and a redesigned bumper and front grille. The rear of the car has also been revamped with a redesigned tailgate with a new spoiler, diffuser, and taillights.
The cabin has also been updated to further evoke Lamborghini’s “feel like a pilot” design DNA (I am not making this up, Lambo themselves said this). The air vents and coverings for the seat and dashboard have all received special attention with even the mechanical pushbutton panel getting a new, more tactile feel.
A larger 12.3-inch centre screen runs a new version of Lambo’s infotainment system with updated graphics that put it in line with what was seen on the Revuelto. The centre screen works in conjunction with the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster to provide information through new displays related to driver assistance as well as a dedicated telemetry system for the Urus SE.
Thanks to its new e-power capabilities, the Urus SE now has a total of six driving modes and four Electric Performance Strategies (EPS). These consist of three modes for road and track use (Strada, Sport, Corsa), three for off-road use (Neve, Sabbia, Terra), and four EPS options (EV Drive, Hybrid, Performance, Recharge).
In full-electric mode, the Urus SE can get over 60km of range from the battery alone at speeds up to 130km/h. The engine won’t kick in unless it exceeds that speed or the torque demand exceeds what is available from the electric motor.
It is not yet known when the Urus SE will make its way to Singapore so all the tai-tais will just have to sit pretty and wait for now.
