Go anywhere and do anything with the Porsche Cayenne, the ultimate driving partner

We recently brought the Porsche Cayenne up north into Malaysia for a weekend adventure to try and test the limits of the Cayenne’s capabilities. We didn’t find those limits. 

Porsche set us a task, showcase the Cayenne’s go-anywhere-do-anything spirit with the caveat that we had to bring the car back in one piece. Sounds easy enough. We decided that the best method of doing so was by heading across the border to try our hand at off-roading and car camping.

We picked Desaru as our playground, just an hour from the Causeway and home to beautiful beaches and tricky trails galore. With the Cayenne as our chariot, we could easily stow all of our camera gear, some supplies, and everything we’d need for a picnic with loads of room still to spare.

Perfect for both on-road and off-road adventures.

Our drive was a quick and comfortable one thanks to the 3-litre, twin-turbo V6 and air-ride suspension setup. I’ve been lucky enough to have tried the Cayenne on the Malaysian highways prior to this excursion, so I already knew how it would take it and was looking forward to experiencing that magic carpet feel again.

Once the roads ran out, the Cayenne was still able to continue traversing the challenging terrain and for a luxury SUV on street tyres, it performed remarkably well. Rocky undulations were effectively dealt with by the air suspension and the all-wheel drive gave the tyres plenty of purchase even over low-grip surfaces.

Yeah, we got a bit lost.

What better way to end our romp through the wilderness than with a lovely picnic with the ocean as our backdrop and a setting sun colouring the sky. The Cayenne allowed us to embark on this escape from the hustle and bustle of Singapore and not once did it disappoint.
