I finally got my chance to explore New Bahru, thanks to the impressive GREEN-HOUSE 2024 festival. This third and largest edition of the event truly lived up to the hype, featuring a record number of local sustainability brands.

As one of the key partners, Mercedes-Benz went all out with its 'Crafting a Better Tomorrow' showcase, seamlessly integrating sustainability across the three immersive zones - Renew, Reimagine, and Reconnect.

Stepping into the Renew Zone, I was immediately captivated by the Circling Zero Art Exhibition. Talk about turning trash into treasure!

The clever use of discarded Mercedes-Benz car parts transformed into "art-as-furniture" left me in awe. Spark plugs as chess pieces, a catalytic converter as a display piece, and disc brakes fashioned into a light display with miniature cars - Knock Knock Studio truly outdid themselves. I was ready to whip out my wallet if these pieces were for sale.

Over at the Reconnect Zone, the Mercedes-Benz x Helinox Campground was a sight to behold. A sleek Mercedes-Benz EV took centre stage, together with tents, camping chairs and teddy bears. What a perfect spot to relax and soak in the outdoor vibes.

I couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy learning about the limited-edition camping gear to be given away in a pet photoshoot contest. Note to self: borrow a friend's dog next time!

But the real showstopper for me was the Mercedes-Benz Kantine by FURA in the Reimagine Zone. While the full three-course, plant-based menu was reserved for the main event, I lucked out with a sample of their New Age Goreng Pisang. This caramelized banana ice cream with banana skin dulce was a revelation.

The cherry on top? The crockery. Handcrafted from upcycled bio-composite materials like coconut husk, rice husk, and eggshells. It's mind-boggling how Mercedes-Benz managed to infuse luxury into sustainability at every turn.

GREEN-HOUSE 2024 was an eye-opener, showcasing how a luxury brand like Mercedes-Benz can lead the charge in sustainable innovation. From art to camping gear to culinary experiences, they've proven that eco-friendly doesn't mean compromising on style or quality. If this is the future of sustainable living, count me in!
