Chinese EV brand Xpeng lands in Singapore with new G6 crossover in pop-up showroom
Both Xpeng and its G6 are new to Singapore, with the high-tech Chinese debutantes on display at UOB Plaza 2 in Raffles Place from July 24 for at least three months.
Xpeng is the second up-and-coming Chinese EV brand to be introduced by Audi agent Premium Automobiles after Zeekr, which has set up shop at 9 Leng Kee Road.
There is no permanent facility yet for Xpeng, which makes its first local appearance in a pop-up structure parked in the heart of Singapore’s central business district, where it will remain in place for at least three months.
The first Xpeng electric car to charge into town is the G6, a sleek crossover with coupe cues, rear-drive single motor and a choice of two power packs - 66kWh with the 190kW/258hp motor or 87.5kW with the 210kW/286hp motor.
Both batteries support 280kW fast-charging (but Singapore’s DC chargers for the EV public are mostly 50kW, plus a few faster-charging kiosks rated at 120kW, 150kW or 180kW), with the bigger battery providing a maximum WLTP range of up to 570 kilometres.
The platform, hardware and software of the G6 are said to be state-of-the-art, while the model is described as offering a high degree of space, comfort and standard equipment. Test-drives are available at the temporary XPeng showroom.
Prices of the new Xpeng G6 start from $209,999 including Cat B COE, with UOB customers qualifying for a pre-launch package worth $15,000.
