Malaysian authorities have announced that enforcement of the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) will be delayed, but Singapore vehicles without the tag will receive reminders to install their VEP.

The Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) announced today, 27 September, that foreign-registered vehicles without a VEP will still be allowed to enter Malaysia from Singapore, even after the 1 October deadline.

Although drivers will be able to enter Malaysia as usual, JPJ stated that enforcement would be “executed in phases”. JPJ also stated that vehicle owners without the VEP RFID tag will be issued a reminder at the land borders to quickly register, install, and activate their VEP RFID tag.

JPJ also added that drivers will receive a warning notice before they leave Malaysia if they have still not installed their VEP.

Drivers have been in a flurry the last few months to install and activate their VEP tags, with many seeking the help of the information counter in Woodlands to combat their issues with the registration process.

Drivers can now collect their VEP tags from the Woodlands counter in addition to the two new collection centres in Johor Bahru.

According to JPJ, as of 25 September, 62,635 Singapore-registered vehicles have had their VEP RFID tags activated.

If you are applying for your VEP, you can follow our guide here for all the required steps.

If you did not place the RFID sticker on the left headlamp, your VEP will not be activated... although on TNG App, it allows you to place it at top left windscreen.
