Guide to EZ-Pay: A Cardless Payment Service for Motorists

Do you struggle to find a NETS Top Up Machine when you’re in a rush? Well, the days of manually topping up CashCards for ERP and parking gantries may soon be over.
What is EZ-Pay?
EZ-Pay is a post-paid, cardless payment service created by EZ-Link for drivers. Completely free-to-use, it allows drivers to use their bank cards to pay for Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) and carpark (EPS) charges.

Since these charges are debited directly to your debit or credit card, that means you don’t need to have a CashCard in your in-vehicle Unit (IU).
Right now, only a handful of carparks accept EZ-Pay (click here for the most updated list of carparks accepting EZ-Pay), but it is 100% ready for use at all ERP gantries.
For EZ-Pay enabled carparks, EZ-Pay will take precedence over other forms of payment, like a complimentary parking ticket. Should you have a complimentary parking ticket, all you need to do is use it normally and the system will automatically cancel the EZ-Pay payment.
In the case for ERP fees, if you have a CashCard with sufficient balance, your card will be charged accordingly when passing under an ERP Gantry. If it has insufficient balance, or if you do not have a card in your IU, the ERP charges will be brought directly to your debit or credit card.
How to Sign Up for EZ-Pay?

There are two ways you can sign up with EZ-Pay. You could do so through the EZ-Link mobile application or the EZ-Pay website. To sign up, you will need to provide your Name, NRIC/FIN number, Mobile Number and Email Address.
You will also have to enter your vehicle number and the NRIC/FIN number of its owner. Do note that only non-company registered car are eligible for EZ-Pay currently.
Following that, you will need to provide the details of your credit or debit card. Only Citibank and POSB/DBS Visa/Mastercard Debit and Credit cards are accepted at the moment.
For those who own multiple cars, EZ-Pay only accepts up to three vehicles for each credit/debit card in your EZ-Pay account.
With such a convenient and free service, worrying about insufficient value in your CashCard and running around looking for a machine to top it up may soon be a thing of the past.
Although it is not perfect yet, it is surely getting there. Simplifying something as big as the way we drive is no easy task, but it takes a small step at a time in the right direction.
EZ-Pay is one such example, a simple idea of simplifying the lives of motorists by slowing doing away with CashCards in our IUs could very well be an important step in revolutionising the way we drive.
