Toyota goes beyond the roadway and hits the runway with Singaporean para-athlete Toh Wei Soong
The ‘Start Your Impossible’ Hero Project showcases 16 adaptive outfits created by Toh Wei Soong and a Toyota RAV4 with a bodywork wrap inspired by his sketches.
The newly-minted creative director is a Singaporean Paralympic swimmer and Global Team Toyota Athlete who worked with Claudia Poh, founder of fashion label Werable, to design an innovative collection of clothes which can be worn by able-bodied and disabled individuals alike.
Making fashion accessible for all was Toh’s objective. “At its heart, the hero project is about the self-transformation from lesser to higher selves,” he explained.
Transformed, too, is the Toyota RAV4 with a bodywork wrap inspired by Toh’s sketches, thereby integrating the worlds of automotive mobility and fashion creativity. Borneo Motors will contribute $5,000 from the sale of the car to the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD). The SPD will also receive all the proceeds from the auction of Toh’s debut collection.
Ng Khee Siong, managing direct of Borneo Motors Singapore, said: “The ‘Start Your Impossible’ initiative is about breaking barriers and inspiring individuals to believe that the impossible is within reach. Toh’s vision for inclusive fashion aligns perfectly with our commitment to creating a world where everyone has the freedom to express themselves, regardless of ability.”
