These are the Singapore Motorshow 2025 cars which go best with our National Pledge in the 60th year of Singapore’s independence.

BYD Sealion 7
This newly naturalised (and homologated) citizen of the Lion City might be BYD’s next big hit here after the ATTO 3, Singapore’s unofficial national electric car since 2023.
The Cat B newcomer is available as two variants – 230kW single-motor rear-drive Premium and 390kW dual-motor all-wheel-drive Performance. Both BYDs are well-equipped to provide all the range (480km and 460km respectively), cabin/cruising comfort, modern convenience, motoring safety, interior space and everyday practicality that Singapore’s family-SUV buyers need.
These folks want value for money too (at current Cat B COE premiums) and BYD delivers accordingly, pricing the Sealion 7 Premium at $209,888 and the Sealion 7 Performance at $234,888.

DENZA D9 and Xpeng X9
These are the motorshow’s people-movers which will unite all users on their multi-purpose electric journeys. Both BEV MPVs are full-size, full-spec seven-seater vehicles which put VIPs on cloud nine, regardless of destination. 
The DENZA D9 is a double-winner in the Motorist Car of the Year 2024 campaign, impressing the reviewers and readers alike with its huge value for money, big battery (for a long driving range), comprehensive amenities, and quiet comfort for everybody on board. 
The Xpeng X9 aims to win people over with its space-age exterior, spacious interior, advanced powertrain and good manoevurability (it has rear-wheel steering to tighten the turning circle).

Toyota GR Yaris automatic and Yangwang U9
One is a Japanese pocket rocket that can be registered for the road in Singapore, while the other is a Chinese dream machine which is not yet ready to hit the streets of Singapore and scare all the non-Chinese supercars.
The GR Yaris is Toyota’s little motorsport monster which has been updated for 2025. The main change is the introduction of an 8-speed automatic transmission (previously it only had a manual 6-speeder) for easier driving, while the other changes make the cockpit even sportier and a bit more sensible.
The Yangwang U9 is BYD’s spectacular electrical supercar with 1,300 Chinese horsepower, 1,680 Nm of titanic torque and independent quad motors. Its performance is shockingly good, clocking 2.36 seconds in the 0-100 km/h sprint and accelerating all the way to 309km/h. It even performs extremely well at a standstill, thanks to its dancing/jumping showmanship accompanied by catchy Chinese music.

Kia EV5
This state-of-the-art Korean electric crossover is destined to speak Singlish and support the temple of Smart Nation business, because it will be built in Singapore at the HMGICS Jurong factory.
The compelling features of the EV5 include its attractive EV9-inspired styling, comfortable lounge-like cabin, thoughtful interior flexibility, user-friendly operation (such as fingerprint recognition), and clever driving aids to enhance safety and convenience.
The EV5 is a COE Category A car with 110 kW of power, 310 Nm of torque and up to 540 kilometres of range.

Hyundai Tucson AWD N Line and Honda Accord e:HEV
These two cars are in different market segments, but have a similar motoring mission to do it all for one and all (who can afford it, admittedly).
The Tucson AWD N Line brings a touch of Hyundai’s N formula-for-fun to the masses, on top of the do-everything versatility and go-everywhere capability that the mid-range SUV has always offered. Mechanically, the Korean model is a 1.6-litre turbo hybrid with 212 hp, 367 Nm, grippy all-wheel drive and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The Accord e:HEV is the 11th generation of Honda’s legendary sedan for successful businessmen and super-successful salarymen. The 2-litre petrol-electric powertrain has been engineered to provide an optimum combination of efficiency and performance, while the complete suite of modern conveniences (including Bose premium audio) and Honda Sensing safety features ensure a comfortable and confident driving experience.

ORA 07
Seeking justice in an unfair automotive world where fastback flagships tend to be too expensive, too exclusive and needlessly complicated, Great Wall Motor brought the vehicular genre down to earth with the ORA 07.
With a launch price of just under $209k including COE (as of 9 January 2025), the Singapore-spec ORA 07 is shaping up to be a great equaliser at that price range, where such a smooth blend of stylishness, sportiness and sophistication is uncommon.
The ORA 07’s most impressive features include an interestingly retro-modern design, an artistic cockpit, luxurious sports seats, an expansive panoramic sunroof, an array of driving-assistance systems, and intelligent infotainment. In the electrical department, the 07 offers 150 kW, 340 Nm, a range of up to 570 kilometres and a 0-100 km/h timing of 7.9 seconds.

MINI Cooper Convertible
Making the driver happy as can be is what this stylish British car does best.
The latest edition of MINI’s fun-in-the-sun four-seater features a soft-top which is fully automatic and utterly unique. It can be deployed in two ways - either as an unusual sunroof, or totally topless for maximum wind in the hair. The tough fabric canopy can be opened or closed at the touch of a button, whether at a standstill or on the move (up to 30 km/h).
Doing its own blowing on the go is the turbocharged 2-litre four-cylinder engine, whose 204 hp and 300 Nm take the MINI Cooper Convertible from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and gives it a top windswept speed of 237 km/h.
