When did you get your driving licence?

At the age of 17.

What do you like about motoring in Singapore?

The good condition of the roads

What do you dislike about motoring in Singapore?

You can't really drive fast since the maximum speed you can go is 90km/h.

What do you like about motoring in Malaysia?

Roads are wide on the highway, there’s plenty of space.

What do you dislike about motoring in Malaysia?

Definitely the traffic and the not so good road conditions, with potholes etc.

Remember your first road car and first race car?

Yeah, definitely. My first road car was a Proton Gen2. The first race cars I drove were a Formula BMW single-seater and a BMW Z4 in GT racing.

Tell us a bit about your current ride.

I currently drive a Mazda CX-5. I got it around October 2023. The reason for getting it was for the family. The price I got was pretty decent then, because I bought it second-hand. There were definitely other options like CX-8 or other seven-seaters, but yeah, the price was the main reason why I didn't go for those.

What is your ultimate dream car for street use?

Currently the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.

What is your ultimate dream car for motor racing?

I would say the 2007 F1 cars [LOL].

What is your favourite racetrack?

Suzuka. It's really a driver’s circuit and old school, where one mistake can lead to a big crash. It really tests a driver's skill!

Who is your favourite racing driver?

Kimi Raikkonen. He's quick, doesn't talk much and doesn't care what people say or think about him

What is your favourite race car of all time?

I grew up watching Formula 1 and I would say the 2005 McLaren-Mercedes.

What is the most satisfying aspect of establishing and building Legion of Racers?

The reason for starting Legion of Racers was to grow the motorsport community and it has been great to see sim racing grow over the last few years. I think the most satisfying aspect is to see that people do recognise the brand and also appreciate what we have done to promote and grow motorsports in general.

And what is the most challenging aspect?

Definitely making it as a profitable business, given that sim racing is so niche in this part of the world.

What is your hope for Legion of Racers as it approaches its 10-year milestone in 2028?

My hope is to see sim racing continue to grow, not just in Singapore but also in South East Asia. I also want our team to compete and win in international championships.

Based on your experience and expertise, what is the main difference and the main similarity between racing as a driver and managing a racing team as an ex-driver?

I think the difference is that when you manage a racing team, you can't make decisions during the race since you are not in the driver’s seat. You are depending on your drivers to get the job done. But in terms of how you want to prepare for a race, it is quite similar since I understand the process when competing in a race.
