Singapore crowns two new National Circuit Racing Champions at the revived Singapore Touring Car Challenge 2025
After a decade’s hiatus, the Singapore Touring Car Challenge finally returned to crown two new National Circuit Racing Champions after a thrilling race weekend.
The Singapore Touring Car Challenge (STCC), which was last held in 2015 at the Pasir Gudang circuit, made its return from 13-15 March 2025 at the Sepang International Circuit as the support race for the Motul 12 Hours of Sepang Endurance Race.
STCC was successfully organised and run by Motor Sports Singapore (MSS), the national motorsports association for Singapore, and saw two new national circuit racing champions crowned.
The event had 12 entrants across two categories, Production Stock Class 1 (Honda Jazz) and Production Stock Class 2 (Suzuki Swift), all vying to be named national circuit racing champion. Singaporean tyre company Giti was the official tyre for the event, with all racers required to use the GitiCompete GTR2 UHP throughout the weekend.
After 10 years, the Singapore Touring Car Challenge goes green once more.
In Class 1, 12-lap sprint race was led to green by the polesitter Justin Toh in his #80 Bae Racing-AGI Singapore Honda Jazz, with Lim Yao Huang lining up alongside him in the #90 Team R-Engineering Honda Jazz.
Gladys Lam, the sole female racer in the event, was the polesitter in Class 2 in her #211 Bae Racing Suzuki Swift, ahead of the #333 Team R-Engineering Suzuki Swift of Terence Lee.
Once the race began, Justin Toh and Lim Yao Huang quickly broke away from the rest of the pack, leaving the rest of the drivers to fight it out in the midfield.
Despite a strong start and valiant battling with Terence Lee and B Kishen’s #44 Nikita Motorsports Suzuki Swift, Gladys’s #211 car pulled off the track with mechanical issues on Lap 7, triggering a Full Course Yellow (FCY) which neutralised the race while the marshals cleared her stricken Suzuki Swift.
As the race resumed, a decisive attack by Aiden Chong in the #790 Horizon Drivers Club by Bae Racing Honda Jazz saw him overtake both Quek Kian Wee (#91 SKuber Race Team Honda Jazz) and Harold Chau (#53 TD Racing Honda Jazz) in a single move.
Out front, it was Justin Toh who would claim the victory in Class 1 after fending off Lim Yao Huang’s attacks throughout the race. In Class 2, it was Terence Lee who took the chequered flag in first place.
Justin Toh was joined on the Class 1 podium by Lim Yao Huang (2nd) and Aiden Chong (3rd) while Class 2 honours went to Terence Lee (1st), B Kishen (2nd), and Lester Lian (3rd).
Beyond the on-track racing action, STCC 2025 also managed to galvanise strong support from and showcase the talent of the small but fervent Singaporean racing community.
Amongst the entrants was 16-year-old Joshua Berry who piloted the #122 Axle Racing Honda Jazz even though he’s not even old enough to get his road driving licence.
Mr. Winson Ow, President of Motor Sports Singapore, was present at the event and was proud to crown the new champions. He said, ”Our goal is to continue building a strong grassroots racing community, with a broad variety of disciplines enthusiasts can choose to take part in.”
