In the second COE bidding exercise of March 2025, Cat A closed at $94,502; Cat B closed at $116,890; Cat C closed at $70,089; Cat D closed at $9,511; while Cat E closed at $116,991.

Cat A (car up to 1600cc & 130bhp, and EV with up to 110kW) received 1,951 bids for 1,138 COEs and its premium climbed by $1,772. Category A COE closed at $94,502.

Cat B (car above 1600cc or 130bhp, and EV with more than 110kW) received 1,196 bids for 747 COEs and its premium climbed by $3,890. Category B COE closed at $116,890.

Cat C (goods vehicle and bus) received 469 bids for 277 COEs and its premium increased by $3,088. Category C COE closed at $70,089.

Cat D (motorcycle) received 626 bids for 525 COEs and its premium increased by $310. Category D COE closed at $9,511.

Lastly, Cat E (all vehicles except motorcycle) received 382 bids for 198 COEs and climbed by $4,090. Category E COE closed at $116,991.

A senior executive at a major dealership in the Alexandra motor belt told Motorist: “The first quarter is closing and the next bidding is three weeks away, hence some dealers may just secure COEs in this round. If there is no urgency, most dealers will just spread their bids before The Car Expo in May.”

Jason Lim, managing director of BMW authorised dealer Eurokars Auto, told Motorist: “The three weeks till the next round will add pressure on the COE premiums.”

Ng Choon Wee, commercial director of Komoco Motors which represents Hyundai in Singapore, told Motorist: “The total bids received for Cat A and Cat B are quite similar to the last round. The increase in COE premiums today could be due to crazy bidding, as the next round is three weeks from now, giving more time to collect more orders. Bidders are worried that the next COE results (on April 9) will be even higher.”
