Everything You Need to Know About the Singapore Motorshow 2020

The Singapore Motorshow is back again with its sixth edition in 2020. Here’s everything you need to know about this prestigious motoring event!

Probably one of the most anticipated motoring event in Singapore, the Motorshow is guaranteed to knock the socks off every driver! Even if you’re not a car enthusiast, being around hundreds of brand-new cars is definitely going to get your blood pumping.

Let’s take a look at what goes on at the Motorshow!

What Can I Expect?

This year’s Motorshow boasts over 30 automotive brands, with several new and facelifted models on display. Expanding over three levels, you’ll be on your feet for hours gawking at all the shiny new cars.

From newer names like MG to crowd favourites such as BMW, the Motorshow is the best place for drivers to check out new launches and hunt for great deals. You’ll also be able to see many more electric vehicles (EV) this year!

Not a car person? You won’t be disappointed! Motorbikes will be on display as well, including several models from Harley Davidson and Ducati.

Where and When is the Show Taking Place?

The Singapore Motorshow 2020 will be held at Suntec Singapore, Levels 4 and 6. It runs from 9 to 12 January 2020, and the tickets are fairly priced!

Below are the ticket prices for the event:

Ticket sales will be available at Suntec Singapore Level 3 concourse area during the show timings. Be sure to grab them ASAP as they’ll end 30 minutes before closing time! Children below 120cm will be granted free admission into the area.

What Will I See?

With more than 30 automotive brands showcasing their vehicles, you’re going to enjoy your time looking, feeling and taking pictures of the vehicles there. Here’s a list of all the car manufacturers that will be there on Level 4:

Singapore Motorshow 2020 Highlights

Firstly, every person who purchases a ticket to the show is eligible for the lucky draw. The prize? A brand-new Subaru XV 2.0i-S EyeSight! All you have to do is fill up your particulars and answer a question on the back of your admission ticket and drop it into the lucky draw box located at Level 6.

Second on the list, Russ Swift is back by popular demand! Collaborating with Subaru, this legend is definitely going to take your breath away with his driving skills. Did you know he also holds the Guinness World Record for parallel parking in the tightest space? You’ll be able to see him do this at the stunt show!

Entry wristbands for the stunt show can be collected at the Stunt Show counter located at Level 6 one hour before each show begins. It really is an amazing experience, so we recommend you grab those tickets as they’re on a first-come-first-served basis!

Cars Launching in 2020

Of course, the Singapore Motorshow would have to show off new cars launching in 2020! Here’s a quick rundown of several new car models being released this year:

Audi e-tron

This new Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) type EV is a true game-changer. Launching in 2020, the e-tron comes in two variants – 55 Quattro and Advanced 55 Quattro. Boasting roughly 561Nm of torque, the Audi e-tron is a great match for sports lovers.

BMW M8 Competition Coupé

BMW returns with the M8 Competition Coupé. This car comes with a TwinPower Turbo 8-Cylinder engine and can get up to 750Nm of torque. It can reach 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds! That’s super impressive for a coupé.

Infiniti QX50

Another SUV hitting our shores this year is Infiniti’s all-new QX50 model. With a 2.0L 4-cylinder Variable Compression Turbo engine and a top speed of 230km/h, the QX50 comes in three variants – Essential, Sensory, Sensory with ProACTIVE.

Kia Seltos

Named after Hercule’s son, Celtos, this compact SUV is perfect for drivers who prefer a sportier-looking car. The ‘S’ in Seltos stands for speedy, which is exactly what this car is! It’s athletic and brave, and will definitely attract many people once it arrives in Singapore.

Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Coupé

One of the three new releases from Mercedes, the C 63 S Coupé is another great option for those who like competition car models. Able to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds, this car can reach up to 290 km/h top speed and can reach up to 700Nm torque.

Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 4MATIC Coupé

An all-wheel drive four-door coupé, the AMG CLA 35 4MATIC is a really good car for Singapore streets. It has a 2.0-litre inline-4 turbocharged engine with twin-scroll turbocharger and can reach up to 250km/h top speed.

Mercedes CLA 200 Shooting Brake

Another great car option for city slickers like us Singaporeans. With four in-line cylinders, a top
speed of 226km/h and fuel consumption rate of 5.7 liters per 100km, the Shooting Brake is a good choice for daily commutes to work and back home.

MINI Cooper S Clubman

Joining the Clubman series is the MINI Cooper S, the five-seater can is longer and wider than its predecessor and can go up to 1250 litres of luggage space for all your items. With maximum torque of 280Nm, it’s not the best car for racing, making it a perfect fit for those extra-careful motorists.

MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) Countryman

A limited-edition car graces our shores – the JCW Countryman has made its appearance! Being a spruced-up, sportier version of MINI’s Countryman, this car comes with a sports trim and can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5.1 seconds, as compared to MINI Countryman’s 9.6 seconds. The JCW Countryman also has up to 1390 litres of luggage space, making it a must-get for MINI fans.

Peugeot 2008 GT line

Don’t let the ‘2008’ in the name confuse you; Peugeot is releasing an SUV in 2020! Being a multi-energy vehicle, you actually have the choice between an internal combustion engine or an EV, which is great for drivers who like the design but prefer different engine types. However, only the petrol version is going to be available in Singapore.

All in all, the Motorshow is something that has to be experienced in person. It’s the perfect place for car enthusiasts, and non-car lovers would probably find themselves being converted as well. Who knows, you might even find your dream car there.

Despite being an annual event, every year boasts different car models and attractions, so be sure to go this year so you don’t miss out! Remember to bring along a camera to take pictures of the displays; it’ll be a good memory to keep.
