The updated made-in-Europe Hyundai i30 receives an exterior makeover, a new downsized 1.0-litre turbocharged engine, and a whole array of tech upgrades.
Hyundai’s authorised dealer, Komoco Motors, has announced the launch of the updated i30 hatchback today. Engineered and built in Europe as the core of Hyundai's brand in the continent, the i30 facelift promises to provide far more features at an attractive price point.

Upfront, the i30 facelift sports a wider dark chrome grille that features an accentuated 3D pattern. New, slimmer headlamps with multifaceted reflector (MFR) LED technology and new V-shaped signature LED daytime running lights (DRLs) complete the renewed, modern front end design.
The rear features a new bumper design, which was developed to improve aerodynamic performance. The LED rear combination lamps also boast a new V-shape design for a symmetrical effect between the front and the back.

Additionally, the new i30 also comes with new redesigned diamond-cut 16" alloys, with Michelin tyres as standard.
In addition to three existing colours (Polar White, Phantom Black, Engine Red), four new paint options are also available: Shimmering Silver, Dark Knight, Silky Bronze and Sunset Red.

Hyundai has updated the i30 by giving it a new 7" digital cluster, and a new 8" touchscreen that is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible. Modern amenities like wireless charging and electronic parking brake with auto-hold function are also present.
Features
In a Singapore-first, the new i30 will come with Hyundai's improved SmartSense suite of safety packages, making it the safest model in its segment.
The SmartSense features include:
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with pedestrian detection and bicycle detection
- Lane Following Assist
- Rear Cross Traffic Collision-avoidance Assist
- Leading vehicle Departure Alert
- Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist
- Smart Cruise Control

Hyundai has opted for a downsized 1.0-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder engine for the new i30 as opposed to the 1.4-litre turbocharged unit in the pre-facelift model.
Regardless, the new engine still pumps out a healthy 120hp and 200nm, bringing the new i30 from 0-100km/h in 11.2 seconds. Power is transmitted to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox.
The new i30 continues to sport ventilated disc brakes in front and solid rear discs, but loses its rear multi-link suspension set-up for a coupled torsion beam axle.

Retailing at S$101,999 (as of press time), the European-made i30 continues to deliver exceptional value, especially with its upgraded suite of comprehensive SmartSense technology, and an updated digital instrument cluster.
