BMW Asia and Performance Munich Autos have announced the premiere of the all-new BMW M3 Competition Sedan and BMW M4 Competition Coupé in Singapore.
Available in Singapore from March 2021, the BMW M3 Competition Sedan and BMW M4 Competition Coupé both boast a 510 hp engine and an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. Varying in seat occupancy, the Sedan has space for five occupants, while the Coupé allows for four.
Overall, both the M3 and M4 are suitable for long-distance drives, but also dynamically adapt for everyday use, which is probably what most car owners are looking for.
Engine

The all-new BMW M3 Competition Sedan and M4 Competition Coupé are powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine which offers a peak torque of 650 Nm on tap between 2,750 and 5,500 rp — a 100Nm boost from their predecessor.
In addition, the engine’s maximum output is 510 hp, with the engine’s red line reaching approximately 7200 rpm — up to 60 hp from the previous engine.

Both models are capable of achieving the century sprint (from 0 to 100km/h) in a blazing 3.8 seconds. They are also capable of hitting 0 to 200 km/h in 12.5 seconds. The model-specific exhaust system with electrically operated flaps will definitely be a head-turner as well. However, the maximum speed of both models is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
The cabin acoustic can also be influenced by the selected engine mode. Choosing either SPORT or SPORT+ mode will align the timbre and intensity of the exhaust. Regardless of which mode is engaged, the driver can adjust the engine’s aural impact using the M Sound Control button on the centre console.

Need variety? Its M Steptronic 8-speed, rear-wheel drive Drivelogic transmission fits the motor characteristics and extremely sporty gear transformations perfectly. It is capable of assisting efficiency at low engine speeds while enabling an intense build-up of power from low speeds.
The M Steptronic transmission also enables both fully
automatic gear changes and manual shifts with
sequential gear selection.
By simply pressing on the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel, the driver can easily switch from automatic to manual mode.

Manual mode allows the driver to accelerate hard from a steady speed by executing multiple downshifts to the lowest driveable gear. On the other hand, Automatic mode helps drivers with sporting intent by making speed adjustments when braking into corners.
The transmission’s shift characteristics can also be adjusted using the Drivelogic button integrated into the selector lever. There are three distinct setups in both modes – comfort-oriented, sports-focused, and track-optimised.
Design

Design-wise, improvements were made on a high-performance sports car’s functionality with the modern design language. An example is the vertical BMW kidney grille with hallmark double bars in a horizontal design. Powerfully sculpted wheel arches and the prominently extended side sills are also featured on the flanks of the cars.

The roofs of the sedan and coupé are made out of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic with aerodynamically optimised fins, a rear spoiler and exhaust tailpipes. Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Laserlight are fitted as standard.
Colour-wise, both the M3 and M4 come with exclusive shades of Sao Paulo Yellow non-metallic, Toronto Red metallic and Isle of Man Green metallic.

Standard specification also features forged M light-alloy wheels with mixed tyres – in a 19-inch format at the front axle and 20-inch at the rear. Tyres are 275/35 ZR19 and 285/30 ZR20.

On the inside, electrically adjustable M sport seats and fine-grain Merino full leather trim come as standard, with seat ventilation available for the first time.
An added option is the new M Carbon bucket seats that combine racing functionality with lightweight construction and long-distance comfort.
These bucket seats also have integral head restraints which can be dismantled for track driving. They even have an illuminated model
badge and electric adjustment.
As part of the new M Race Track Package, the M light-alloy wheels (available as an option with semi-slick tyres) and the M Carbon bucket seats allow owners to reduce the vehicle weight by around 25kg. This Package is available for both the M3 and M4.
