The sharpened up BMW M5 Competition is now available in Singapore. It incorporates everyday usability with electrifying driving performance.

The new BMW M5 Competition now features an improved chassis, tuned-up engine and sporty design elements to bring the bold and athletic characteristics out of this car.

Exterior

As on the BMW 5 Series range, the M5 competition will get the stylish kidney grilles specially designed with M-specific double bars in high-gloss black. It also sports a redesigned L-shaped LED headlights narrowing towards the grilles to give it an aggressive look at the front.

At the rear, it gets M-specific twin tailpipes to create a sense of high-tech precision and a redesigned LED rear lights, surrounded by dark surfaces, to give off a three-dimensional effect.

The M5 Competition badges are made from carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP), which is also used for the front side panels with the signature M gills, streamlined M exterior mirrors, the roof and the kidney grilles.

There are five new paint finishes added to the M5 Competition. Customers can now have a choice of Tanzanite Blue II metallic, Aventurine Red II metallic, matte Frozen Bluestone metallic, as well as Hatch Grey and Motegi Red metallic, which are already standard for the regular BMW M5 models.

BMW says the interior is now more driver-focused than ever. You will find a 12.3-inch infotainment screen that feels larger than life as it is integrated with the latest operating system, allowing you to enjoy greater connectivity.

As far as technology goes, you will also enjoy the same driver assistance systems and features as the regular BMW 5 Series. The Comfort Access system is one of the key features that allows you to lock and unlock the car using your smartphone.

With M-Sport seats upholstered in Merino leather, customers can choose either the Black or Midrand Beige trim colour. Both the driver and front passenger will get the M multifunctional seats with integrated head restraints and an illuminated M5 logo available as standard.

Driving Modes

Two new M-mode buttons are placed conveniently on the centre console – like those found in the BMW M8 – it provides easier access to driving system settings: ROAD, SPORT, and TRACK.

ROAD and SPORT modes come with a standard set of driver assistance and safety features; examples are collision warning and blind-spot monitoring systems. While the unique M View Head-Up Display will only be activated when engaged in SPORT mode.

TRACK mode is specifically designed for race circuits as the comfort and safety functions are deactivated, allowing you to enjoy the M driving experience fully.

Drivers can also choose between the governed all-wheel-drive mode (4WD) or rear-wheel-drive mode (2WD). The DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) will be deactivated when the 2WD is engaged, and drivers will be treated to an unadulterated driving experience.

Improved Chassis

BMW M5 Competition utilises lightweight M Compound brakes that provide better braking performance, thermal stability and enhanced durability. It is also fitted with their latest shock absorbers shared with the current BMW M8, providing better handling and comfort when driven over bumpy road surfaces.

Powertrain

Under the hood, it gets a 4.4-litre V8 engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology mated to a much responsive eight-speed M Steptronic transmission that generates 625hp and 750Nm of torque.

The M5 Competition finishes the century sprint in a respectable 3.3 seconds and 0-200km/h in 10.8 seconds, achieving a top speed of 250km/h.


The BMW M5 Competition is now available for viewing at the Performance Munich Autos showroom.
