I crossed the stop line while the traffic light was still amber, but the intersection was quite long. By the time I was halfway through, the light at the far end turned red. Based on your experience, is it likely that I will be penalized for running a red light?

Hi Joan! Thank you for your question. According to LTA rules, you should stop at the stop line when the light turns amber unless it’s unsafe to do so. If you crossed the stop line while the light was amber and it turned red while you were in the middle of the intersection, it’s generally not considered running a red light.

However, enforcement depends on the specific situation. If you receive a notice, you can review the details and consider appealing if necessary.
